We are Brian & Larry Paris and we are the Pitmasters at Smokin' Bliss Bbq. We are very proud and supportive of our Military and First Responders as my Dad served honorably in the United States Marine Corps and I'm currently a Sergeant with our hometown Sheriff's Office. We are truly a family centered team and couldn’t possibly do this without their help and support. Our team started in 2016 as a hobby with two great friends and it quickly turned into a passion that seems to grow every year. We love competing against some of the best pitmaster's in the Country and are happy to call many of them friends.
I think the natural transition when doing competition barbecue is to get into catering as folks want to try your food. We took that catering plunge and happy to offer our services to folks and serve the same food that we would turn in to KCBS judges.
In closing I would like to say that the best part of this Bbq Life is having the opportunity to spend quality time with my Dad doing what we love and on occasion collecting some hardware!
In 2022, our team ended up doing very well. We competed in the All-American Rib Cookoff in Auburn, CA and took 1st place in People’s Choice (2nd year in a row) as well as 1st Place in Judges Choice. We followed that up with a 1st place finish at the 12 Bridges Rib Cookoff as well. In September, we competed in the largest KCBS event in California this year with 43 teams competing and we placed 4th overall with a 1st place finish in pork with a perfect-perfect 180 finishing score, 4th place in ribs, and 15th & 16th place in chicken and brisket.
For 2023 we started the year in Bullhead City, Arizona and finished 1st in Ribs, 4th in Pork, & 8th in Brisket.
In March we competed at the Golden State Battle V in Hollister and took 1st place in Brisket.
April and May saw us win our first Grand & Reserve Grand Championship in Lodi and Felton CA.
Smokin' Bliss made its first trip out to The American Royal and were proud to bring home two ribbons. We had a 10th/11th place finish in Brisket (you had to be there) and a 14th place finish in Sausage.
We ended our year with 5 overall top 5 finishes and 18 top 10 finishes in the 4 meat categories. We are proud to say we also won Team of The Year in California in Pork.
We love to give back to the community we live in and would love to share a couple of events we were proud to donate our time and spread the Bbq love!
In August, 2022, we were asked to help Bbq for the Town of Loomis at their National Night Out event. On 3 days’ notice we took this on and cooked for the entire town. We were recognized by the town council last month for helping them at this important event for the community.
In September, 2022, we had a devastating fire (mosquito fire) in our community that displaced thousands of people. We were asked by our Bbq friends from Cal-Tex Bbq Rubs and Pawpa Flavor if we could help so we took our trailer and large smoker and collectively cooked dinner for over 1,000 people.
